WEIRTON–A conference on “What Great Educators Do Differently” is Dec. 9-10 at Weirton Elementary School, 3428 Pennsylvania Ave., Weirton. The conference is open to classroom teachers and school administrators and will cover such topics as school culture, educational technology, digital literacy, effective grading and assessment practices, special education and libraries of the future. Conference speakers will include LaVonna Roth, Todd Whitaker, Salome Thomas-El and other educators. Cost is $249. Three hours of WVU credit will be offered to attendees for $213. CHESTER — Westminster Presbyterian Church, Indiana Avenue, Chester, will hold its “Holiday Festival” 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Handcrafted items include knitted and crocheted baby items, scarves, shawls, aprons, throws and decorated sweatshirts as well as other crafts. Grandma’s Attic offers Christmas decorations, jewelry, along with books and toys. A bake sale, homemade soup and sandwich will be available.
