HANOVERTON — The Winona and Hanover Township fire departments will hold a benefit dinner for Jennifer Brantingham from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 5 at United Local High School. Brantingham lost her job and medical insurance after being diagnosed with kidney cancer. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Carryout available. Silent Chinese auction and a 50/50 available.

LISBON — The Medication Assistance Program is 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, East Washington Street, Lisbon. The program is for those uninsured or underinsured, regardless of age. Bring medication bottles. Help available with Medicare Part D problems.
NEWELL — The 8th annual Paint-a-Plate, hosted by the Homer Laughlin China Company, will take place 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Wells Building, Washington Street, Newell. The event is free.
Children of all ages are invited to participate in painting their own Homer Laughlin China plate, which will be fired in the Homer Laughlin kilns and returned to the artist, ready to hang up for display, or to use for dinner.
There will be 360 plates reserved for pre-registration. While walk-ins will be available, there will only be a reserved amount for them per hour and their numbers will begin after the reserved set for that time slot. This will give a general time reference based on how quickly the painting tables turn. EAST LIVERPOOL — The Beacon Association’s annual Snow Queen and Snow King and Jack Frost and Little Miss Snow Flake contest soon will be underway.
Ages 5-9 may compete for Snow Queen and Snow King, while ages 2-4 compete for Jack Frost and Little Miss Snow Flake. Winners determined based on the total money received, via donations, for the annual Christmas Parade, which is Dec. 3 in downtown East Liverpool.
Registration is 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Southern Columbiana County Regional Chamber of Commerce, 529 Market St., East Liverpool. Contestants will receive donation sheets at this time.
Turn in donation sheets and collected money 5-6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Chamber office.
Winners will ride with Santa and his sleigh in the Christmas Parade (parents must accompany child on ride) and also will be introduced during the “Light Up Night,” which follows the parade, at the city’s Christmas tree in the Diamond.
