Lions receive awards

NEW CUMBERLAND — President Barb Blackwell called the meeting to order on Nov. 8.  Lion Pam Stiles offered the prayer and Lion John Edwards led the Pledge of Allegiance.  President Barb Blackwell introduced the guests for the evening, Past District Governor Eva Dague and Lion Linda Baker from Washington Lands Lions Club.

Lion Bob Manypenny presented new member certificate to Lion Andrew Kefer and a sponsor certificate to Lion Joe Ghenne.  The minutes were accepted as read.

PDG Eva Dague discussed the annual Labor Day Dan Dague Memorial Car and Bike Show for Sight and presented Progressive Leonard Jarrett Awards to Lion Russ Flanigan and Manypenny for their dedication and hard work over the years that has helped to make the Dan Dague Memorial Car and Bike Show for Sight a successful fundraiser for the West Virginia Lions Sight Foundation.

Correspondence included a Thank You from District Governor Linda Leasure and information from the Swaney Library on the Christmas Tree decorating contest.  The Treasurer’s report was placed on file.

President Blackwell asked about the Christmas meeting.  It is in the planning stages.  Each member attending is asked to bring donations for the Food Closet.  She also announced that the next regular November meeting is cancelled as it is 2 days before Thanksgiving.  The Board meeting will be on the 15th in the City Council Chambers.

Blackwell made a motion to adjourn with a second by Lion John Ashcraft.  The next regular meeting will be December 13, in the City Building.
