LISBON — Wesley Vins, Health Commissioner for the Columbiana County Health Department, reports that a total of 124 dogs and cats were vaccinated for rabies at the recent Rabies Prevention Clinic that was held at the Columbiana County Career & Technical Center. Vaccinations were given by Dr. Gordon Schmucker, D.V.M. and his staff from the Lisbon Veterinary Clinic, Inc. It is anticipated that another Rabies Prevention Clinic will be held next spring.
CHESTER — The Radical Rosies Red Hats met Nov. 12 at Cricksters. Donna Stevens opened the meeting. She thanked everyone for the donations for the Veterans Home, and for toys and non-perishable items for the Salavation Army. Nora Suit, Army Veteran, led the “Pledge of Allegiance”. Norma Hackathorn gave the prayer and blessing.
Nancy Nocifora read a poem “A Solder Died Today” in honor of Veteran’s Day.
After lunch, Shirley Simcox presented “Hats Galore”, a collection of vintage hats. The ladies all tried on the hats, and Nancy Shenton took a group picture. Simcox presented Stevens with a purple velvet hat from the forties.
Door prizes, provided by Penny Gibbs and Marge McGinty were won by Vivian Richmond, June Rigamonte, Simcox, Darla Varley and Linda Wright.
The toys and non-perishable items for the Salvation Army will be delivered by Stevens, Richmond and Lillian Bailey.
The next meeting will be Dec. 10 at Cricksters for the annual Christmas party. Everyone is asked to bring a $5 wrapped gift and to wear their favorite Christmas outfit.
EAST LIVERPOOL — TOPS 1390 met Nov. 15 at Oakland Free Methodist Church with leader, Dee Kiger, presiding. The meeting opened with the TOPS and KOPS pledges and roll call.
Debbie Ice was the best loser and Karen Brereton, the runner-up. Mildred Elliott had 10 weeks in leeway. Arlene Shuman had 6 weeks in leeway. Ice had 3 weeks of losses and won the check contest. Florence Smith won the November gift basket and the 50/50. Ice was wished a happy birthday. The program was on nutrition, given by Kiger. The no-no is potato chips. Ohio TOPS Queen Kerry Schneider will be at TOPS 1390 Nov. 29.
