‘Care and Share’ begins 35th season

WELLSVILLE — “Care and Share,” a project of the Wellsville Lions Club which assists families in need, has been in existence for more than 35 years.

“We pride ourselves on being able to help hundreds of families each year at Christmas time,” organizers say. “We understand that sometimes things happen that are out of our control, and families may fall on hard times. We want to help make this Christmas a little easier for you.”

Last year, a new application process for the Care and Share program was implemented.

Those wanting to fill out an application must apply in person at the Wellsville Carnegie Public Library. A Lions Club member will be at the library 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 28-30 and Dec. 2, and 5-7 p.m. Dec. 1. These are the only times applications will be available. It should be noted that applications can not be taken from the library and returned at a later date, and an application can not be filled out for others.

Photo identification required. Applications not accepted without proper identification.

Those with a 330-532 or 362 phone number or 43968 zip code are eligible for the Care and Share program. Applications available for both toys and food baskets — those with children are eligible to apply for both.

Toys must be picked up 9-10:30 a.m. Dec. 23 at Wellsville High School.

Food baskets will be delivered — approximately 8-10 a.m. — to those living inside Wellsville village limits on the same day. No food baskets will be left without someone being at the residence.

Food baskets for those not living within village limits must be picked up 9-10:30 a.m. Dec. 23 at Wellsville High School.
