CHESTER — Chester Arts Club held the regular monthly meeting on Oct. 26, 2016 at Crickster’s Family Restaurant in Chester. President Joanna Hobbs welcomed the membership.

Willie Balt, Chair of the Community Improvement Committee introduced Mrs. Patty Barnebi, founder of the non-profit organization “Never Alone” in 2010 to help those individuals with an addiction and their family and friends to overcome their disease. She distributed booklets listing meeting sites, dates and times as well as rehabilitations locations while speaking about the severe need within our local area to counteract the drug and alcohol addiction and deaths.

Lunch was served as members discussed the need for a “Never Alone” site in the Chester area. A donation was then made to “Never Alone”.

The meeting moved forward with Mary Ann Wright providing the treasurer’s report. Donations had been made to the United Way and the Breast Cancer Screening Coalition.

Balt reported the flower planters along Carolina Ave., and at the front of the Chester City Building have been cleaned and are ready for Christmas decore.

Marlene Flemming reported the VFW would again have a Christmas tree for donations to the Veterans’ Home in Barboursville, W.Va. The Arts Club membership again decided to provide a financial donation to help veterans with a joyous Christmas.

As the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons are approaching, it was decided to move the monthly meeting to Wednesday, Nov. 16 and Dec. 14. Members will each donate $5 for the local FISH project.

President Hobbs asked for any additional old and new business. The meeting was adjourned.
