Ladies Aide holds annual picnic
NEW CUMBERLAND – The Point Pleasant Ladies Aide met Aug. 11th at the home of Karen Randolph, New Cumberland, for their annual picnic. There were 20 members present. Marian Caine gave the blessing, and the group enjoyed fellowship and a covered-dish dinner.
President Carolyn Allison called the business meeting to order, welcomed the members, and lit the memory candle to honor members that were unable to attend.
Terry DeLong presented the “Moving Forward” devotions, followed by a prayer.
The minutes of the last meeting were given by Nancy Conkle, and Allison gave the financial report.
Carolyn Allison shared news that the organization had received a donation from the Rabenstein Endowment through the Chester, Westminster Presbyterian Church. Members were ecstatic and grateful. A thank you card was sent.
Donations were made to two member teachers to use in their classrooms, and a check was sent to the New Cumberland VFW Post 3526 for the Wounded Warriors fund.
Lena Kerns prepared a “Movie” basket for the third annual event, Down By the Riverside, held in New Cumberland, WV, on Aug. 17th.
Discussion was held on the Hancock County Old Time Fair which will be held on Sept. 12-14 at Tomlinson Run State Park, New Cumberland. The group will present an “All Sports Basket,” and members signed a work schedule.
Members shared their concerns and comments for the good of the group. Prayers were asked for those suffering with illness and surgery.
Carolyn Allison adjourned the meeting with a closing prayer.
The hostesses for the evening were Terry DeLong, Ruth Fuller, Karen Randolph, and Judy Tate.
The next meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Point Pleasant Church.
