The East Liverpool Area Seniors

EAST?LIVERPOOL-The East Liverpool Area Seniors held their weekly meeting on Thurs. July 24, with 20 members present. President June Mullen opened the meeting by calling on Charlie Mae Scott for a scripture reading. This led to the reciting of “The Lord’s Prayer”, salute to our flag, and the singing of “America”.

Secretary JoAnn Fickes checked attendance of officers and read the minutes of the July 17 meeting. The meeting continued with Treasurer Gail Grimm bringing us up to date on club funds. Grimm informed us of one new bill that has been submitted this week. President Mullen called for motions to pay the bill, and the first motion was made by Margaret Brown and it was seconded by Diane Carnegie.

In the absence of Club Supervisor Mary Lou Arcuragi, President Mullen reminded everyone of the auction coming on Aug.7, and to bring items in good condition, and also wrap them before bringing. Mullen also reminded everyone the club will provide free pizza for our meeting next week. It will be delivered at 12:30 p.m.

Members all helped celebrate Trustee Dale Valentines birthday today as he added a big 0 this year. Members all sang “Everybody has A Birthday”, and wished him many more. Vi Valentine brought a cake for everyone to share. A bouquet of snowy white carnation’s and Baby’s Breath was won by Beverly Bolton. This weeks lucky recipient of the 50/50 was Margaret Brown.

Story time started with Ruth Wynn reading a story about forgetful old ladies. President Mullen closed story time with a couple of funny stories. Mullen called for motions to close and the first motion was made by Beverly Bolton and it was seconded by Jean Tomlison. Members all sang “The Evening Prayer”, and Charlie Mae Scott made the closing prayer. The meeting closed for lunch and games. Next meeting will be July 31.
