EAST LIVERPOOL – John W. Covert Chapter 47 Disabled American Veterans and Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chapter home, 617 Broadway.
WELLSVILLE – A baked steak dinner is 4-6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Yellow Creek Presbyterian Church. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. The menu includes: baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, cole slaw, dessert and beverage.

CHESTER – The Orchards at Foxcrest is organizing a Senior’s Chess Club. The first meeting for the club will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Peachtree Inn, on the campus of the Orchards at Foxcrest. EAST LIVERPOOL – The D.A.V. National Service Van will be at the Chapter home, 617 Broadway from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 15 to help anyone with their present claim or to file a new claim. To check on a present claim, have your claim number with you and all paper work. To file a new claim bring all VA and civilian doctor paper work and your D.D. 214. Not a Disabled American Veteran, no problem, you can sign up. Ask any D.A.V. member available that day.
LISBON – Columbiana County Career & Technical Center’s ABLE program will begin free Academic Skills Brush-Up/GED classes in Lisbon, Salem, and East Liverpool on July 15. ABLE is also offering Introduction to Health Care Sciences. This free class covers basic anatomy, biology, medical terminology, and contextualized mathematics and is offered to anyone who is considering an education in the health care field. Both courses are open to adults 19 and older and 16, 17, and 18 year olds with additional documentation. Interested individuals should contact Angela at 330-424-9561, extension 190.
LISBON – Help Hotline Crisis Center’s support group of the Survivors of Suicide, in Columbiana County, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 17 at the Counseling Center on state Route 154. It’s a support group for families who have lost a loved one to suicide. For information, call the Crisis Center, Inc. at 330-747-2696.
EAST LIVERPOOL – Aglow International Ministry is launching a new East Liverpool chapter. The new leadership team invites the area women to come and gather with them from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 19 at Thompson Park Amphitheater. Donuts and coffee will be served. Music provided by a local worship leader.
