Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa
WEIRTON – The members of Alpha Delta Kappa, Fidelis Gamma Chapter, met on July 3, 2014, at Williams Country Club in Weirton with 11 members and one guest present.
Carolyn Allison, President, welcomed guest Sara Evans and lit the “Memory Candle” for those members who were unable to attend.
The room was elegantly decorated in the patriotic theme. Each member wore red, white, and blue to foster the American holiday. The members celebrated a Salute to America with a reading from Ruth Fuller, “The Stars and Stripes Spell Freedom,” followed by a group pledge to the American Flag. Liz Pugh read “Our Flag Flies High,” and Carol Hendon read “One Nation Under God”. In closing, the members sang “God Bless America.”
Anne Ford read the June minutes, and Martha Everly submitted the Treasurer’s Report, reminding members that dues are being collected through December.
A thank you card was read from the June guest, Nancy Zachewicz.
Members gave their officer and committee reports. It was reported that member Eva Belle Catlett was recognized by the Brooke County School System, and her name was recently placed on the “Wall of Fame.” Several Fidelis Gamma members attended the recognition ceremony.
Members shared their comments and concerns “For the Good of the Group,” and the members adjourned the meeting by singing the “Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
The hostesses for the meeting were Martha Everly, Kay Kuzma, and Twinkle Smith. The next meeting will be held on August 7 at 11:30 at Williams Country Club.
