East Liverpool Area Seniors

EAST LIVERPOOL – The East Liverpool Area Seniors held a July 10 meeting after a week’s absence due to the 4th of July holiday. The meeting was called to order by President June Mullen, and she requested a Bible reading from Dorothy Poole. This led into members reciting The Lord’s Prayer; The Pledge Of Allegiance to the flag, and the singing of “America.”

Secretary JoAnn Fickes checked the attendance of officers, and read the minutes from the June 26 meeting. The minutes were approved and will stand as read. Treasurer Gail Grimm brought members up to date on club funds and advised no new bills this week. However a check will be sent from the club with an additional donation from members to the Fish Organization.

Club Supervisor Mary Lou Arcuragi reminded everyone about the auction planned on Aug. 7. Useful items are needed to sell, and they need to be wrapped before bringing.

Hospitality Chairman Betty Davis advised 22 members attending the meeting. One birthday was celebrated by JoAnn Fickes, and she admitted a zero was added this year. Everyone sang “Everybody Has A Birthday,” and members wished her many more. A lovely bouquet of lemon yellow carnations and Baby’s Breath was won by Arcuragi. This week’s lucky recipient of the 50-50 was Ruth Wynn.

Wynn started story time with a funny story called “Oops.” The club’s 100-plus year young Pat Brown thanked everyone for all the cards and good wishes she received while she was ill. Mullen finished story time with a story about an unusual diet.

Motions to close were made by Ralph Samberson and Wynn. Grimm led the singing of “The Evening Prayer,” and the closing prayer was made by Poole. Next meeting will be July 17, and you will need to bring a sack lunch. The meeting closed for lunch and games.
