Calcutta Lions Club
CALCUTTA-The Calcutta Lions Club met for their regularly scheduled meeting on July 22 at the Peter Metrovich Community Center. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. Lion Janet Christen led the invocation. Dinner was provided by Lions Janet and Wayne Christen. 20 members were in attendance.
Lion Tim Coalmer collected fines for newspaper pictures and quizzed members on Steelers trivia.
Lion Sharon Hall passed out minutes to the July 8 meeting. Lion Rosemary Bruehler made a motion to accept the minutes. Lion Bob Hay seconded the motion. The motion was carried.
Lion Rosemary Bruehler stated that she will be collecting newspapers again this evening for the Leo Club recycling project.
Lion Nancy Hadley reported the next bingo will be July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Calcutta Health Care.
Lion George Drovdlic passed around the sign-up sheet once again for the next park clean up at Beaver Creek Saturday, July 26 at 9 a.m.
Lion Janet Christen sent around the sign-up sheet for our Hot Dog Sale at Giant Eagle August 8 and 9. We will be selling Steelers Raffle tickets as well.
King Lion Joan Dodds reminded everyone that the Veteran’s picnic is Aug. 9. Those that can help set up need to be there by 7:30 a.m. at Calcutta Square. Lion Wayne Christen also informed members that LCI is waiving the initiation fee for any veteran who joins between now and next June.
Lion Paul Metrovich asked for updates on potential participants for the Touch-A-Truck. There is NO rain date now. Vehicles will need to be there by noon and parked in their spot.
Lion Paul Metrovich showed members the hooded jackets that are part of our give away for the Steelers Raffle. The tickets are for Steelers vs. Colts on Oct. 26. The drawing will be held Oct. 14th. Tickets are $5. Winners will win 2 tickets to the game, 2 hooded jackets, $100 cash and a $100 gas card.
Lion Wayne reminded all that the Zone Meeting will be held Aug. 16 at Kent State hosted by the East Liverpool Lions Club. Our first cabinet meeting will be held Aug. 10.
The 50/50 was won by Lion Brenda Smith.
Lion Sharon Hall made a motion to adjourn at 7:55 p.m.. Seconded by Wayne Christen. The next meeting will be Aug. 12 at 6:30 p.m.

CALCUTTA – The Calcutta Lions Club met for their regularly scheduled meeting on July 8, at the Peter Metrovich Community Center. King Lion Joan Dodds called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all. Dinner was provided by Lions Rod and Karen Tresler. Guests were Sue Elliott, Jordan Brown and Ruth Sullivan. 16 members were present.
Tail Twister Lion Tim Coalmer read his rules to the club and collected fines for pictures in the local newspaper.
Secretary Lion Sharon Hall passed out minutes to the June 10th meeting. Lion Nancy Hadley made a motion to accept and Lion Tim Coalmer seconded the motion. Motion was carried.
Lion Jerry Barnes stated the Leos are continuing their recycling project throughout the summer. They already had their election of officers and he will get with them about helping with the Veteran’s Picnic.
Lion Nancy reported 4 members attended at Crossroads on July 7 and the next bingo will be July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Calcutta Health Care. She will be scheduling for the August bingo at Crossroads.
Lion George Drovdlic passed around the sign-up sheet for the next park clean up on July 26 at 9 a.m. He had 9 members attend in June.
Lion Wayne Christen sent around a sign-up sheet for the hot dog sale that will be held Aug. 8th and 9th at Giant Eagle.
King Lion Joan explained that those that can help with set up need to be there by 7:30 a.m. at Calcutta Square. If you would like to order a Lions t-shirt, the cost will be $10. Samples of t-shirt sizes were on display and money is due to Lion Joan by the next meeting.
In Lion Paul Metrovich’s absence, Lion Joan stated this will be held Aug. 24 and Paul will pass out forms at the next meeting. Lion Jerry Barnes will check with the Leos regarding face painting.
In Lion Paul’s absence, Lion Joan stated to wear your black and gold to our next meeting to kick off the Steeler’s Raffle. Lion Paul will discuss tickets during that time.
Membership Chairman Lion Gary Freeh presented Lion Nancy her 100 percent attendance pin and certificate and also a Key Pin to Lion Jerry Barnes for bringing in at least 2 members last year who have been members for at least one year and one day.
Lion George Drovdlic won the 50-50 raffle. The next meeting will be held July 22 at 6:30 p.m. Lion Sharon Hall made a motion to adjourn at 8:23 p.m.
