Glenmoor gas main project pushed forward
GLENMOOR – Materials for Columbia Gas’s upcoming gas main replacement project in Glenmoor will arrive earlier than expected, meaning the project will begin earlier than the original anticipated start date of July 1, according to officials with Columbia Gas.
According to Columbia Gas External Affairs Specialist Shane Cartmill, pipe and other construction materials will begin arriving and preliminary work will likely begin June 24.
The preliminary work will primarily involve surveying the area. “Customers will first see the staking of the right of way, marking of any underground utilities (water, cable, electric) and the ‘camera-ing’ of sewers,” said Cartmill. “We inspect the sewer before and after the project to ensure it is not damaged.”
Actual excavation and replacement of the gas mains will not begin until early July after the surveying is done.
Customers whose homes or properties are involved in the project can expect to receive a letter from Columbia Gas including a fact sheet and map of the project early next week according to Cartmill.
A public meeting will still take place July 8 at 7 p.m. at the Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department. “People can safely approach our crews on site and ask any questions they may have but the better opportunity for that will be on July 8 at the Glenmoor Volunteer Fire Department,” said Cartmill.
