The Road to Gettysburg to be held at Beaver Creek
EAST LIVERPOOL – Friends of Beaver Creek State Park, Echo Dell Road, and the Army of Northern Virginia Shriver Greys are hosting The Road to Gettysburg, this Memorial Day weekend, May 25-26.
The outcome of the Battle of Banks Ford weights General R. E. Lee’s difficult decision;. should he march north into Pennsylvania or defend the Confederate capital in Richmond? Birney’s Division commanded by Colonel Chris Smith will represent the northern forces against the Army of Northern Virginia commanded by Colonel Tim Perry.
Little Beaver Creek strongly resembles banks along the Rappahannock River in Virginia, where this battle took place May of 1863.
Included in this two-day event will be a Fife and Drum Corp and a Ladies Fashion Show with a Tea.
Civil War Ball is for all ages, dress as you please. Besides dances of the time is the Virginia Reel “I can’t stop dancing.” Dancing instructors will be on hand.
