EAST LIVERPOOL – The monthly food distribution for the Way Station in East Liverpool has been postponed from today, Jan. 24 to Thursday, Jan. 31. The distribution usually takes place from 10 a.m. to noon at Avondale Baptist Church on Minerva. The Columbiana Way Station will have their distribution on their usual distribution date from 9 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Jan. 24. Any questions may be directed to The Way Station at 330-482-5072.
EAST LIVERPOOL – A fundraiser for Westgate’s sixth grade Kennywood trip is 3-9:30 p.m. today at Roma’s on Route 8. Roma’s will donate 10 percent of sales during that time.
LEETONIA – The awards ceremony for the Columbiana County chapter of the Knights of Columbus’ 6th annual “Substance Abuse Awareness” poster contest is 7 p.m. Friday at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center, Lisbon.
The contest was offered to all Columbiana County schools through the Columbiana County Educational Service Center for students, ages 8-14.
This year, 28 local student winners were selected from approximately 1,500 entries. Those judging the contest included health educators, police and DARE officers and art teachers.
Guest speaker is Judge Scott Washam, who also will participate in a round table discussion with the County ADAPT Coalition High School Youth Leaders.
COLLIERS, W.Va. – Country Friends will host Art Beal and The Country Tradition Band at the Memorial Hall, 402 Old Police Lodge Road, on Saturday.
The doors open at 6 p.m. each Saturday and the dance starts at 7 p.m.
LISBON – The David Anderson High School Class of 1963 will have breakfast 9 a.m. Saturday at the Taste of Country.
EAST LIVERPOOL – The Colt Industries Hot Strip Department will meet for breakfast 9 a.m. Friday at Hoges Restaurant
WELLSVILLE – The Committee to Save Immaculate Conception Church will hold its weekly prayer service 3:30 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church on 5th and Main Street.
EAST LIVERPOOL – The Moose Lodge will have bingo Friday. Doors open at 5 p.m., with early bird at 6:30 p.m. and regular at 7 p.m.. A full kitchen menu, with takeout, is available. There will be no bingo on Feb. 1, due to convention.
NEW CUMBERLAND – The Panhandle Piecemakers are sponsoring a trip to the AQS Quilt Show in Paducah, Ky. The dates are April 24, 25 and 26, 2013.
