Hearts & Stars Gala

SALEM — The Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) Foundation has announced former Ohio State All-American and NFL All-Pro linebacker, Chris Spielman, as the featured speaker for its 2019 Hearts and Stars Gala, to be held 6 p.m. March 23, 2019 at The Vineyards at Pine Lake, Columbiana. All proceeds raised through the event will be used locally to support cancer care at SRMC.

Spielman currently serves as an analyst for FOX Sports and is the author of “That’s Why I’m Here: The Chris and Stefanie Spielman Story,” which chronicles his family’s journey through his late wife Stefanie’s 11-year battle with breast cancer.

“Since Stefanie lost her life to cancer in 2009, Chris has continued her legacy as an inspiration and advocate for countless individuals affected by this disease,” said Amy Reed, SRMC Director of Development. “We are honored to have him share his personal story of hope at the Gala in March, as our Foundation raises funds on behalf of area patients who are fighting the battle against cancer. Community members are invited to join us for this very special evening by purchasing tickets when they go on sale in early December.”

Now in its 9th year, the annual Hearts and Stars Gala is one of the SRMC Foundation’s signature fundraising events. In addition to Spielman’s keynote address, the 2019 Gala will feature a cash bar and appetizers, an upscale dinner and desserts, and a silent auction. Tickets are $85 per person.

The SRMC Foundation raises funds to support patient services and programs at SRMC, with 100 percent of all proceeds used to benefit area patients.
