Lords and Ladies Salon makes changes, keeps tradition under new ownership
CALCUTTA-For more than 35 years, Lords and Ladies Salon on St. Clair Avenue in Calcutta has upheld a reputation for great haircuts, friendly service and affordable prices. Now under new ownership, Lords and Ladies is poised to continue that reputation by completely renovating the facility and infusing the staff with fresh talent while still keeping all the familiar faces customers know and love.
At the beginning of this year, Tylor Backus became the new owner of Lords and Ladies and was joined by his wife, Aleasha, who acts as both stylist and manager. Tylor and Aleasha both grew up in the area and even went to the salon as kids.
“We’re looking to continuing the legacy,” said Aleasha Backus. “We look forward to seeing all the longtime customers, but we hope to meet new ones as well.”
Knowing the longstanding relationships many stylists have with their clients, the Backus’ decided to keep all the previous employees including Vikki Gordon, Judy McComas and Megan Cost.
“A lot of customers have come here for years, and they like their stylist,” said Aleasha Backus.
The new owners have brought on some new talent too, adding experienced stylists Leslie Merriman, Alice Backus, and Trista Hlavay. All together there are experienced seven stylist at Lords and Ladies including Aleasha Backus who has extensive experience as a stylist as well.
“They’re all very good and very well rounded,” said Backus.
The Backus’ updated and remodeled the entire interior of Lords and Ladies. New flooring, fresh paint and a complete interior were part of the makeover, allowing for a comfortable and stylish atmosphere.
Lords and Ladies will continue to offer high-quality men’s and women’s haircuts, styling, cap and foils, highlights, perms, updos, waxes and beard trims, but has also added new features and services such as a two new Puretan tanning beds, manicures, and, soon, pedicures.
