Columbiana county sheriff

Eric A. Pidgeon met deputies at his business Pidge’s Place, Guilford Lake, at 2:47 p.m. Tuesday to report someone damaged his pop machine overnight. The surveillance camera at showed just prior to 2 a.m. a small van pulled up to the machine and left, returning a few minutes later. Two people got out of the passenger side of the van and walked up to the machine. One served as the lookout while the other attempted to open the machine. When the keys did not work, they forced the lock. The change box was taken and they got back into the van. The driver may have been a woman. The quality of the video made it difficult to make out the license plate number.

The Veteran’s Administration Hospital asked deputies to check on a man living on Lake Street, Beloit, at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday after he made some comments that raised their concerns. Dean Miller said he was fine, just tired of the way the VA conducts businesses.

Michael Bachman of Paradise Lake reported at 10:27 a.m. Monday a skidsteer was stolen. Chuck Williamson called Bachman at 8:30 a.m. to say the lights were on and the bay door to the garage was open. Williamson’s wife then said she noticed it open and the lights on at 5:30 a.m. Two chain saws were missing also.

Kim Marker-Cordero, Castro Valley, Calif., reported on Jan. 5 she used to live in Salem, but moved to California. So did her daughter, Fallan Marker and Fallan’s boyfriend, Joshua Cehrs. However, Marker and Cehrs recently moved back and signed for their property to be moved back to Ohio by ABF, using Marker-Cordero’s credit card number. Additionally, she said they put their property in storage at Lincoln Storage on state Route 45 in Salem Township, again using the same credit card to pay. Marker-Cordero noted they have charged $3,800 to her account without permission. Deputies investigated the matter and it appears the charges for the storage units are being paid for with other credit cards, not the one reported by Marker-Cordero. The transaction for the move happened in California, making it the jurisdiction of Alameda County, Calif.

At 7:06 p.m. Tuesday, Todd Hayter, state Route 164, Center township, reported a stolen firearm.
