Brookes’ celebrate 65th wedding anniversary

EAST LIVERPOOL – Charles (Chick) and Maxine Brookes celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at a vow-renewal ceremony at The Thompson House on Aug. 2, 2013. Close family members attended the event and their son, Mark Brookes, performed the vow renewal.

They were married Aug. 2, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Columbiana by the Rev. Longsworth. Maxine’s late brother-in-law and sister Tony and Eileen Cataldo were witnesses for the couple during the original ceremony.

The Brookes’ have two sons, Attorney Timothy Brookes of East Liverpool and Attorney Mark Brookes of Columbus; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Chick is a veteran of the Korean War, serving four years in the Air Force. He was employed at the Review for 30 years and retired from Birch Supply in 1989. Maxine was employed at Ogilvie’s Department Store and retired from T.C.I. Cablevision in 1990 after 21 years.

The couple is planning a fall trip to celebrate.
